New York, NY – April 8, 2008 – One month after receiving a round of funding led by Comcast Interactive Capital, Giant Realm – the rapidly-growing online publisher group and affiliate network of video game and entertainment enthusiast sites reaching a core audience of men ages 16-34 – today announced key hires in the company’s advertising sales and marketing departments, as well as the opening of two offices on the West Coast.
Giant Realm, which is also backed by the William Morris Agency, has attracted high caliber professionals with proven success in advertising, gaming and publishing, as well as those with a strong understanding of the young male demographic.
Jim Thorp joins the company as Account Director, Eastern Region. Previously at UGO Networks, Thorp brings with him a depth of knowledge of the demographic and relationships with key young adult targeted advertisers. He also served in sales and business development roles at Fox Sports Interactive Media, Ping.com, Alta Vista, Golden Bear, and Madison Square Garden
Rebecca Sanders joins as Senior Account Executive, Western Region. Sanders will be based in San Francisco, drawing on her ability to develop successful advertising campaigns for video game marketers. She was most recently account executive at Curse, an online community for MMO-focused gamers. She began her foray in the video game arena with Warcry/Escapist Magazine.
Giant Realm has also hired the company’s first Marketing Director, Pauline DeRosier, to help create and manage custom marketing campaigns for clients. In addition, she will work to build and expand recognition for the Giant Realm brand amongst both the advertising community and general public. DeRosier brings experience in the demographic from Maxim Digital, where she was marketing manager in charge of strategic marketing initiatives, partner/advertiser research, and integrated advertising campaigns. She also served in marketing positions at The Hotel Networks and NBC Universal.
Also joining from Maxim is Bina Amin, as Associate Account Executive, Eastern Region. She had previously worked at Lifetimetv.com.
“Jim, Rebecca, Pauline, and Bina bring a wealth of experience to Giant Realm,” said Keith Kane, Giant Realm’s Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing. “This team will allow us to quickly raise our profile in the media community and continue to deliver highly engaging and targeted campaigns for our advertisers.”
“And, by opening offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco, we’ll also be able to better serve both the entertainment and video game advertiser communities which are based in these markets.”
In addition to the new hires, Giant Realm has announced the following promotions: Daniel Clark, to VP Sales, Western Region, from Account Director, and, Nadia Hasan, to Senior Account Executive, Eastern Region, from Account Executive.
