German publisher CDV files for insolvency
Legal victory against Southpeak comes too late for Blitzkrieg publisher
German console and PC publisher CDV Software Entertainment AG has filed for insolvency at the district court in Frankfurt.
The company had only just won a long-running legal battle with Southpeak Interactive over payments from Gamecock Media Group, which Southpeak bought out in late 2008.
Southpeak had paid CDV Software $3.1 million in December when it was found in breach of contract, and had also been hit with second ruling over copyright infringement.
However, legal issues bought by publisher Paradox had suggested that Southpeak was also close to insolvency, leaving question marks as to its ability to pay any fines, although Paradox has since settled its dispute with Southpeak.
As well as budget titles on the Nintendo Wii, CDV had also published PC titles Blitzkrieg and Serious Sam HD in Europe.
GamesIndustry.biz has contacted CDV Software AG, it's US subsidary and its administrators for further detail.
