Georgiou promoted to Vivendi UK MD

Vivendi's marketing director, George Georgiou, has been promoted to managing director of the UK operation.

The move comes as the company strengthens its local management teams in individual territories in Europe.

Xochilt Balzola-Widmann, the company's executive VP and general manager for Europe, commented:

"We're thrilled to appoint George as managing director for Vivendi Games in the UK, particularly during one of the year's most exciting quarters.

"Since being appointed as marketing director five years ago his extensive knowledge of the games industry and the market has been integral to the ongoing success of the UK business."

The publisher continues to post strong revenues on the back of a continuing strong performance from World of Warcraft - with another expansion expected in the first half of 2008 - as well as new IP World in Conflict.
