The CMP Game Group, organiser of the annual Game Developers Conference, has announced details of the keynote speakers for the Serious Games Summit, which forms part of this year's GDC in March.

SGS, which is aimed at further promoting and advancing the use of videogame technology in non-entertainment industries, will take place from 20th to 21st March at the Marriott Hotel in San Jose, California. Another SGS event is also planned for later in the year.

Headlining March conference will be Jesper Juul, acclaimed author and game theories specialist, and Phillip Rosedale, founder and CEO of Second Life creator, Linden Lab. The event will also feature lectures, panel discussions and presentations from various industry leaders, including Ian Bogost (Persuasive Games), Doug Whatley (BreakAway Games), Ben Sawyer (Digitalmill) and Suzanne Seggerman (Games for Change) amongst many more.

Jesper Juul is a highly respected theorist and author of multiple literatures on game theories. Editor of the Game Studies journal and his most recent publication, Half-Real: Video Games Between Real Rules and Fictional Worlds, Juul's personal weblog is also used as a resource by games developers worldwide.

Considered by many to be a pioneer in streaming technology, Rosedale was responsible for developing tools such as RealVideo, RealSystem 5.0 and RealSystem G2. Linden Lab was responsible for the virtual community of Second Life, a sprawling 3D world entirely built and owned by its 100,000 or so residents from around the world.
