GDC Mobile: Nokia to reveal new N-Gage games and publishers

N-Gage platform push gathers momentum in San Francisco

Nokia has announced outline details of the new products and partnerships which it plans to showcase in its GDC Mobile keynote session later today in San Francisco - including several new publishers who are on board with the firm's N-Gage platform.

Today's keynote, which kicks off at 1pm Pacific Standard Time in the Moscone Convention Centre North Hall, will reveal a number of updated development tools for the N-Gage platform, which has reached the Version 1.0 milestone, as well as a new testing program for the SNAP Mobile Java platform.

Speaking on behalf of the Finnish firm, Nokia's game publishing boss Greg Sauter is also expected to announce that Glu Mobile, Indiagames and THQ Wireless have all signed up to develop games for the N-Gage platform, which Nokia has recently relaunched as a software and services platform spanning its Series 60 family of devices.

As well as games from these new partners - the first to be announced being Glu's World Series of Poker: Texas Hold 'Em - Sauter will also be revealing new games and franchises including Gameloft's Asphalt 3: Street Rules, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, Brain Challenge and Midnight Pool, and EA Mobile's FIFA 2008.

"We are reinforcing our commitment to this industry with two significant initiatives that will help the mobile games industry evolve," Sauter commented ahead of today's keynote. "Our N-Gage platform will deliver a global games platform that leverages the performance of the tens of millions of S60 converged devices that we are shipping each year. Likewise, our support for Java development continues to evolve with more tools for developers supporting SNAP Mobile."
