GDC Europe returns to Cologne in August

Leading European event to return with day dedicated to social gaming

The organisers of the Game Developers Conference Europe have announced the event is to return to Cologne, Germany this August to rake place alongside gamescom.

New for this year's event will be an expanded exhibition area and a new business space and VIP lounge.

The second day will also be focused entirely on browser-based, social network and online games, as well as other key emerging markets, with online games companies being given a platform for press conferences.

In 2009, GDC Europe hosted over 130 speakers, 40 exhibitors, 240 media representatives and around 1500 participants, making it the leading conference for gaming in Europe.

"Of course, we intend to claim this leading role again this year," said Frank Sliwka, VP of European business development and GDC Europe event director.

"GDC Europe plans to offer attendees and participants outstanding new opportunities to learn and network. This includes three major updates that will be added to the regular program featuring keynotes, lectures, roundtables and workshops and exhibition area."

The event will be held between August 16-18 at the Cologne Congress Center. Information on sessions and speakers is still to come and will be announced on the GDC Europe website.
