GC 2007: Registrations for GC Business Center at record level

GC (Games Convention) 2007

(23 - 26 August 2007)

Leipzig, 21 May 2007

The GC (Games Convention) is becoming increasing popular among exhibitors. Already three months before the GC is due to begin, just under 40 per cent more space has been booked in the GC Business Center than at the same stage last year. International exhibitors in particular are increasingly attracted to Leipzig. Exhibitors from 15 countries have registered for the GC Business Center. "The GC continues its success story again in 2007. The current registration figures for the Business Center prove that Leipzig is the industry's most important fixture, including for international exhibitors", in the view of Peggy Schönbeck, the GC project director.

Many long-standing exhibitors are here this year with a considerably bigger presence in the GC Business Center. "We expect crowds of national and international trade visitors at the GC 2007. To be prepared for that, we are expanding our presentation at this year's fair", says Bernd Reinartz, PR manager at Activision Deutschland. In addition, all the big names have already announced their attendance. They include Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, Take 2, Konami, Eidos, Sega, Vivendi and Disney. Then there is the sharp increase in the presence of foreign exhibitors, with France Télécom, Ubifrance and Monte Cristo Multimedia making premiere appearances in the GC Business Center in 2007. There are also plans for shared stands from Canada and Singapore.

Developer's Village brings together young developers

The GC Business Center offers a special service to young developers. Up-and-coming developer companies can present their innovations in a specially reserved section in the Developer's Village, giving them both an opportunity to exchange experiences and to talk to international publishers. "It is often precisely the young developer teams that enrich the industry with their innovative ideas", as Peggy Schönbeck makes clear. This year for the first time, there will be a joint stand in the Developer's Village featuring French developer teams.

GC Business Center: meeting place for trade visitors

>From 22 to 25 August during the GC, the Business Center serves as a meeting place for developers, publishers and dealers in the games business. The GC Business Center has been expanded still further this year. For the first time, it takes in both the Congress Center Leipzig (CCL) and the entirety of Hall 1. This makes up a total exhibition area (gross) of 30,000 square metres. A new feature this year: two entrances are available for trade visitors to access the GC Business Center, plus an extra entrance via the Glass Hall on 22 August. Except for the Sunday of the fair, the GC Business Center is open daily from 09.00 to 19.00. 22 August is the official trade visitor and media day, when the exhibition halls and the Business Center are open exclusively to trade visitors and representatives of the media.

Trade visitors can register online at www.gc-germany.com and will then receive all their GC items (admission ticket, trade visitor badge and catalogue voucher) by post in good time before the GC begins.
