GaymerX cuts all ties to MidBoss
In wake of allegations against co-founder Matt Conn, LGBTQ convention changes leadership, names new executive director
GaymerX has officially cut its ties with the company that created it.
In a statement sent to press outlets today, GaymerX's new executive director Katie Kaitchuck said the LGBTQ gaming convention has severed all professional association with MidBoss after the company's CEO Matt Conn was accused last month of sexual harassment and exploiting his employees.
Kaitchuck noted that Conn has not been involved with GaymerX since last year, and MidBoss community manager Toni Roca, who had been serving as president of GaymerX, is no longer in a leadership position with the group.
"We at GaymerX take these accusations very seriously and want to apologize to anyone hurt by the conduct of our former staff," Kaitchuck said, adding, "As the new head of the organization, I will make sexual harassment training mandatory for all staff and volunteers as well as install reporting mechanisms for all HR violations."
GaymerX began in San Francisco in 2013, but has since held events in San Jose, New York, and Sydney, Australia. It currently has no publicly announced upcoming events.
