GameTap Announces Licensing Deals With Three New Publishers
GameTap’s arsenal of games continues to grow with the addition of titles from publishers Interplay, SNK PLAYMORE USA Corporation and Riverdeep Inc.
ATLANTA - January 11, 2006 - GameTap, a first-of-its-kind broadband entertainment network from Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.), today announced that it has expanded its considerable vault of games as a result of licensing agreements with Interplay Entertainment Corporation, SNK PLAYMORE USA Corporation and Riverdeep Inc.
The current deal will significantly increase the already electrifying lineup of video games on the GameTap network. "GameTap is continually striving to provide our subscribers with new and exciting gaming content through licensing agreements with premiere publishers," said GameTap General Manager Stuart Snyder. "We are the destination for everyone interested in getting their video-gaming fill, and Interplay, SNK PLAYMORE and Riverdeep will bring a great collection of both classic and newer titles that are sure to keep our subscribers entertained. The addition of Riverdeep also adds to GameTap's library of educational games, a genre that we are looking forward to continually grow." GameTap launched with nearly 300 games and has grown from there, with new games added to the service each week.
The agreement with Interplay, SNK PLAYMORE USA Corporation and Riverdeep Inc. adds over 150 new games to the GameTap service, including titles such as: Battlechess, Clayfighter, Earthworm Jim, Giants, Ikari Warriors, MDK, Ninja Commando, Sacrifice, Shock Troopers, Virtual Tennis, Viva Soccer, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego and Oregon Trail.
In addition to the new publishers, GameTap has already licensed hundreds of games from other publishers including Activision, Atari, Eidos Interactive, G-Mode, Intellivision Lives, Midway, Namco, SEGA, TAITO, Team 17, Ubisoft, Vivendi Universal Games, Codemasters, Cyan, Ironstone, Taurus Media, Electronic Arts, Capcom®, Take-Two Interactive Software, First Star Software, Dreamcatcher Interactive, Knowledge Adventure and 3000AD and Telegames.
Turner has set the subscription rate for GameTap broadband entertainment network at $14.95 per month.
