GamesWorld announces aggressive expansion plans

Irish videogames retailer GamesWorld has announced major expansion plans which include the opening of more than 30 new outlets across Ireland, including ten in Northern Ireland, in the coming year.

The move follows the acquisition of GamesWorld by US retail giant GameStop earlier this month, marking one of the most aggressive moves into a European market by GameStop so far.

GamesWorld currently operates eleven stores in Ireland, where it competes for business with major UK retailers including GAME and HMV, as well as a number of smaller local retailers.
