Gamestation Invites Girls To Take On The Boys

Gamestation, in association with video games fashion brand, Joystick Junkies, will be encouraging girls to get into video gaming this summer as they open their doors to the renowned female online gaming community, the PMS Clan.

From 2nd July for ten weekends, Gamestation will be holding girl gaming events in ten stores across the country. The first and largest all-female video games playing community for XBOX Live and PS2 Online will be instore between 1pm and 5pm each Saturday to take on anyone who thinks they're good enough and show the men exactly how to play video games. With the emphasis squarely on setting the record straight about girl gamers, members of the PMS clan will be on hand to chat to other girls and boys about getting into gaming and what it means to be a PMS Clan member.

The PMS Clan was formed in 2004 from groups of online female video games players tired by the lack of respect girls were getting in the male dominated arena of online gaming. The UK arm of the PMS Clan is currently home to 40 of the best female games players in the country some of whom are Gamestation store members.

"When Gamestation was first created, it was created by gamers for gamers. Twelve years and 230 stores later and we are still remaining true to that principle. We cater for gamers who love games, whatever their age or sex. We're thrilled and excited that the PMS girls will be working with us to promote video gaming amongst women. Attitudes are changing in our industry and we are proud that as a company we are playing our part in achieving this."

MIKE LOGUE, MANAGING DIRECTOR, GAMESTATION

"We've always believed women gamers had a few tricks to show the boys and Gamestation have given us a great opportunity for the PMS girls to show what they can do."

CHRIS BIRCH, JOYSTICK JUNKIES

Gamestation will be supporting the event with instore POS Material and event information flyers handed out in-store, and in local bars, clubs and shops. Joystick Junkies are printing exclusive PMS Clan / Gamestation branded T-shirts as extra incentives for girl gamers to sign-up and join the PMS girls over the summer. Customers wishing to challenge the girls at top new releases like Burnout 3 will be able to do so by signing up in-store prior to the event, although they can't say they haven't been warned...these girls are good!
