Gamestation Crowns The Ultimate Gamer

Gamestation continues to put the buzz into games retail

After a tense and tightly fought final at the Odeon in Birmingham's New Street, Andy Hall was crowned Gamestation's Ultimate Gamer on Saturday 28th October. Beating off 15 other finalists, Andy proved that he was the one to rule them all and had the gaming prowess to win the title of Ultimate Gamer.

Taking place over four weeks, Gamestation's Ultimate Gamer competition attracted hundreds of gamers to engage in a battle to the death for a chance to be known as a gaming supremo. The heats took place at Gamestation stores in Birmingham New Street, Merry Hill and Telford with four lucky winners going through each week. Gamers had to show their mettle on a different genre every week - first-person shooter, beat 'em up, driving and sport.

Family, friends and members of the public came along to watch this gaming clash of the titans, cheering on the victors as they played in High Definition on the Odeon's big screen. Four knockout rounds whittled down the competition to the last two with Andy beating Adam Henry by 0.3 seconds, in a nail-biting game of Project Gotham Racing 3. Andy walks away with an Xbox 360 including accessories and a stack of games, plus a tour of Microsoft.

Jon Brook, head of marketing for Gamestation, says, "The Ultimate Gamer competition was a huge success with people flocking to the stores for their chance to win the fantastic prize and title. Gamestation has always placed fun and the gaming experience at the heart of our stores, creating a real buzz and excitement for our customers. We are always thinking of new and creative ways to help people enjoy coming to Gamestation for all their gaming needs."
