PS3 Attitude donate their entire operating profit to the charity.
Friday 24th April/...Leading PlayStation 3 website PS3 Attitude has today handed over its entire operating profit to games industry charity GamesAid.
The gaming website, located at www.ps3attitude.com, takes a wholly different approach to online publishing. Its running costs are funded privately, meaning every ounce of revenue generated through advertising, click-throughs and affiliate sales is pure profit – all of which is donated to charity.
Throughout 2009, PS3Attitude is supporting GamesAid, a new UK video games industry based charity. It distributes funds to a diverse range of charities; it is a means of giving something back on behalf of the industry. GamesAid acts as a broker of charitable activity on behalf of the industry, taking advice from all sectors.
"We're delighted that the PS3 Attitude team has decided to support GamesAid this year,” adds Rupert Loman, trustee, GamesAid. “Their selfless approach to running the website will result in many disadvantaged young people given opportunities they wouldn't otherwise have had."
“This donation is just the beginning for our 2009 plans, which include the expansion of the PS3 Attitude team and a number of charity events,” says Lee Cash, Assistant Editor at PS3 Attitude. “Our goal is to increase our audience and revenues in order to donate even more to charity.”
PS3 Attitude is run by an army of collaborators who donate their time without charge. The site’s success is promoting a call for more volunteers. The team expansion drive includes calls for new writers, social networking managers and even 'podcast celebrities'. The roles available are open to individuals across the globe, with a particular focus on calling for writers on the US West Coast, Europe, Australia and Japan.
