Games Invest 2010
Money talk and (slurp) lunch during October's Eurogamer Expo in London.
13th August 2010
Screen Yorkshire and Game Republic are hosting Games Invest 2010, a games investor event, as part of the Eurogamer Expo on October 1st in London. Games Invest 2010 is an opportunity for small-to-medium-sized games companies in the UK to find out more about games investment, and also have an opportunity to network and pitch informally and formally to investors.
Games Invest 2010 has a skew towards project investment, although equity investment will also feature in the event. The line-up of investors attending already includes Tenshi Ventures, Pembridge and 4iP, with talks featuring London Venture Partners - the new investment group formed by industry heavyweights Phil Harrison, David Lau-Kee, David Gardner and Paul Heydon – plus Paul Durrant from the University of Abertay, who will discuss the new government-backed £2m fund for games prototypes.
Every ticket purchase for Games Invest 2010 includes a morning of sessions presented by investors, a networking lunch, full access to the Eurogamer Expo and GamesIndustry.biz Career Fair, plus an application form for games companies to apply for meetings with investors. Investors taking part in the pitching process will view all games company applications before the event and use this information to arrange formal half-hour afternoon meetings with chosen companies in private rooms on October 1st.
“The games industry business models are constantly changing and evolving for indie games developers and, as ever, funding for games is a crucial element. Games Invest 2010 is a fantastic opportunity for UK games companies to find out more about how to access public and private investment and actually meet with potential investors,” says Jamie Sefton, Sector Manager of Game Republic at Screen Yorkshire. “Plus, as part of the huge Eurogamer Expo at Earl’s Court, attendees will also have a chance to get on the Expo floor and play some incredible games!”
Tickets for the event are strictly limited and on-sale now for a special Early Bird rate of £35 (full price £50) until August 31st. For more information on the event, the meeting application process and to book tickets, go to: http://bit.ly/games-invest-2010
