games™ hits the big 5-0 in style
Imagine's multiformat flagship marks the magazine's first major milestone and the launch of the Nintendo Wii with landmark cover
Over the past four years since games launched to towering acclaim, the multi awardwinning magazine has been at the forefront of gaming. And now, as the industry enters a new dawn with the arrival of Nintendo's Wii, games is set to welcome in the next 50 issues with the same honest and respected opinion that earned the monthly publication two MCV awards.
Launched on 28 November 2002, the original creative team continue to drive the magazine forward under the Imagine Publishing banner. "We launched games because we felt that there was a gap in the market for a mature multiformat videogame magazine that would reflect the needs of modern gamers," explained launch editor and current editor in chief Simon Phillips. "That it has survived this long and has been so successful is thanks to the integrity of the magazine, the enthusiasm of the team and the continued support of the games industry."
After the successful partnership with Microsoft last issue for Gears Of War, Imagine Publishing continues its high-profile associations with innovation giant Nintendo for its
landmark issue which features a spectacular rainbow effect foil cover. "Reaching such a milestone is an incredible achievement and indicative of the popularity of the magazine," said Paul Morgan, editor of games. He continues: "It's been an astonishing year for us, but 2007 is shaping up to be a phenomenal year for videogames and consumers alike, and games plans to remain at the cutting edge for a very long time to come."
games is highly respected equally within the game industry and gaming fraternity thanks to being accessible to its readership and through the way it refuses to kowtow to PR
pressure, gimmicks or fads. Imagine Publishing, owner of games, is the fastest growing magazine publisher in the UK.
