GAMER.TV VIEWING FIGURES OUTSTRIP MAGAZINE SALES
The latest official TV audience figures show that in the four weeks from November 15, 2004 more people watched Gamer.tv on UK TV channel Bravo than bought all of the games magazines published in the UK.
Over a million viewers tuned in to Gamer.tv on cable and satellite channel Bravo. In addition almost two million people watched Dominik Diamond's return to video games television, When Games Attack, also produced by Gamer.tv.
The figures, provided by the Broadcasters' Audience Research Board (BARB), compare favourably with the latest ABC circulation figures for games magazines, which total less than 600,000 sales.
"These audience figures are fantastic news for the whole Games Industry" commented Richard Wilcox, Executive Producer of Gamer.tv. "It's clear we're making programming video gamers want and that we're now a viable alternative to the specialist games press. Gamers and TV viewers have known this for a while, now the industry should too".
Gamer.tv airs at 11.00am and 5pm every weekday on Bravo, which is fast establishing itself as the home of video games television in the UK. The channel's audience demographic makes it a natural home for video games programming. More men aged 16-34 regularly tune into Bravo than watch all the Sky Sports channels combined - and Bravo has a stronger proportion of upmarket male viewers than Sci-Fi, Sky One or MTV. Bravo viewers spend +37% more on computer and video games than their terrestrial counterparts, they also spend +31% on their PC's each week.
Gamer.tv programming is broadcast around the world including the United States, Australia, Asia and Europe.
