GamersGate predicts 1000% growth over holiday season
New York, USA (December 14, 2007) - GamersGate revealed today it's holiday season predictions for it's digital download business. Forecasted sales for December indicate a 1000% increase as compared to the same time period last year.
"Broadband penetration coupled with a noticeable change in consumer behavior will create a boom for digital distribution of games in 2008. A major consumer behavior study recently showed that 58% of broadband subscribers in the US already use the Internet to play games [1]. With consumers spending more time playing games on the Internet, it will become a natural step to purchase more of these said games online", saidTheodore Bergquist, CEO of GamersGate.
"Just like iTunes paved the way for the music industry during 2006, the gaming industry is on the verge of a similar breakthrough and the impressive growth displayed by GamersGate is just the beginning of what we will see during 2008", Bergquist continued.
Since its launch in 2006, GamersGate has experienced close to a 100% growth from quarter to quarter. The company's core business is focused around digital download of high quality PC games with accompanying services and the platform currently has more than 30 publishing partners worldwide, carrying major block busters like Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, Hitman: Blood Money, The Witcher®and more.
