Gamers praise inaugural Eurogamer Expo
Left 4 Dead, Street Fighter IV, Gears of War 2 prove hits with consumers at sold-out show
Gamers from across the UK have travelled to the sold-out Eurogamer Expo to play the latest titles, at the Old Truman Brewery in London.
Attendees have reacted overwhelmingly positively to the event's format and the titles on offer, including Left 4 Dead, Mirror's Edge, Resident Evil 5, Gears of War 2, Fallout 3 and LittleBigPlanet, among others.
"It's brilliant," commented attendee Matthew O'Donnell on the mood of the showroom floor. "The way that everyone's getting involved, everyone seems to be on the same level and you can actually talk to people."
When asked what game he was looking forward to most after playing at the Eurogamer Expo, O'Donnell said: "Definitely Left 4 Dead, I've been waiting for a real PC co-op game."
Another attendee, Sam Saunders, told GamesIndustry.biz:"[Resident Evil 5] is a lot better than 4. Graphics-wise it's amazing... I'm really looking forward to it." He further commented on the show itself, saying: "It's really good, I've never been to one before and it's fun, it's a good day out."
One of the most popular games on the showroom floor was Street Fighter IV, which gamers could take turns playing tournament style until knocked out.
"I won six [rounds], and initially I wasn't sure how I'd get used to the arcade controls," said Jamyn Smith on Capcom's fighting game. "I was a bit sceptical of the art, I had only seen the stills and the movie, but it looks the part, it looks really good."
"I played quite a lot, Gears of War 2, Resistance 2, Street Fighter IV, and Mirrors Edge," added Colin Chang. "[Gears of War 2] was really good... Epic's worked out a lot of tweaks to the engine and I can see how they've improved on it."
