Local Bands In Ten Major Markets To Compete In Battle Of The Bands Contest During Nesquik GameRiot Summer Tour

Last Band Standing Will Be Featured On Soundtrack For Upcoming 2K Sports College Hoops 2K6 Video Game
(New York) - May 31, 2005 - MTV2 Presents Nesquik GameRiot Powered by Xbox, the world's largest traveling video game tour and MySpace.com, the leading social-networking and lifestyle portal, today announced a joint Battle of the Bands promotion. Taking place in ten of the nation's musical hotbeds, the competition was conceived to enable video game enthusiasts to discover a great new band and put them in an upcoming video game. At each stop on the highly-anticipated Nesquik GameRiot summer tour, two top local bands will compete onstage, with video game competitions interspersed onstage throughout the evening. Once all ten bands advance, their tracks can be reviewed and voted upon at the myspace.com/gameriot page. The winner will be announced August 15.
In addition, the winning band will have their song featured on the 2K Sports College Hoops 2K6 soundtrack - the number one rated* college basketball videogame.
Now in its third year, GameRiot has mastered the formula for delivering a diverse entertainment experience by fusing the top video game releases with popular local music talent. The Battle of the Bands competition takes this experience to an all-new level as it gives music and video game fans the chance to launch the career of an unsigned band and participate in programming the music for a AAA video game franchise.
