Gameloft closes New Orleans studio - report
The French publisher has reportedly cut 40 jobs
French publisher Gameloft has reportedly closed its New Orleans office, laying off around 40 staff.
The news comes from a source speaking to Gamasutra, though Gameloft has yet to confirm the details. GamesIndustry.biz has reached out to the company for comment is awaiting response.
Established in 2011, the New Orleans office would be the latest in a raft of closures and redundancies to hit Gameloft since 2015 which has affected studios in Spain, New Zealand, Seattle, Tokyo and New York.
Back in 2016, French media conglomerate Vivendi acquired Gameloft in a hostile takeover. Since then, Vivendi has been aggressively pursuing a similar tactic with Ubisoft.
In October last year, Ubisoft opted to buy back four million of its own shares in a bid to fend off the media giant.
