Gameloft attempts the impossible
Mobile licensing deal secured for Mission: Impossible III
Mobile games developer and publisher Gameloft has announced that it has signed and exclusive multi-year agreement with Viacom Consumer Products, for the creation, publishing and distribution of a mobile game based on the forthcoming movie Mission: Impossible III.
Directed by JJ Abrams and starring Tom Cruise, the latest film in the hugely successful Mission Impossible franchise will premier on May 5th, and Gameloft's mobile game will be released worldwide on the same day, distributed through its extensive network of carriers, partners and its online store.
Michel Guillemot, Gameloft CEO, commented: "The Mission: Impossible franchise makes for a very thrilling game and we are excited to be part of the creative process. Gameloft is committed to making quality games and we are honoured that Viacom has chosen to partner with us again."
The licensing agreement for Mission: Impossible III marks the second time that the publisher has partnered with Viacom Consumer Products on a big budget film license, the company having previously developed the mobile game for Paramount Pictures' War of the Worlds, which was launched across 150 carriers in 75 countries around the world.
"Gameloft has proven once again to be a very dedicated and dynamic partner," added Sandi Isaacs, VP of Interactive at Viacom Consumer Products. "Their unique and innovative approach to designing and developing games has established them as a premier mobile games developer. We are confident that Mission: Impossible III will provide a fun and entertaining gaming experience for fans and gamers alike."
Gameloft has previously developed a number of successful mobile games based on film licenses, including King Kong: The Official Mobile Game, which was launched in November 2005 and quickly became the company's best selling game for a single month.
