Gameloft announces exceptional Q4 results
Full year report shows huge surge in sales
French-headquartered mobile games publisher, Gameloft, has announced the financial results for its fourth quarter, showing a massive sales surge that brings the company's full-year results to more than double that of the previous year.
Fourth quarter revenues were posted at EURO 15.5 million, a 71 per cent increase on the same quarter in 2004. Total revenue for the 2005 fiscal year was posted at EURO 46.8 million (compared to EURO 23.2 million in 2004), easily beating the company's projected growth estimates and marking the third consecutive year of triple-digit growth.
Mobile gaming accounted for 96 per cent of the total revenue, increasing by 105 per cent on 2004. Revenue was greatly assisted by a strong sales performance for King Kong: The Official Mobile Game, which was launched in November and quickly became Gameloft's best selling game for a single month.
Continued strong performance from a number of back catalogue titles, combined with a positive reception to New York Nights: Success in the City, Midnight Pool, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and War of the Worlds was also cited as a catalyst for the firm's substantial revenue gains.
International market share also showed positive growth, with Europe accounting for 53 per cent of Q4 sales, North America 31 per cent and the rest of the world accounted for 16 per cent. In 2004, Europe, North America and other territories accounted for 68, 26 and 6 per cent of sales respectively.
Gameloft plans to launch some 30 new titles in 2006, and has estimated full-year revenue of EURO 65 million, representing a further 40 per cent growth.
