Game On! London
Nintendo UK to attend June's consumer event.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
30th April 2009 (London, UK) – The UK eSports Association (UKeSA), the official governing body for competitive gaming in the UK, today confirmed Nintendo UK has signed up to attend the Game On! London event on 20th and 21st June.
David Yarnton, General Manager of Nintendo UK, said, "We are delighted to be a part of Game On! London – it's exciting to see a UK consumer event in the Capital again this year, and we are encouraged by the positive impact this could have on the industry. Nintendo UK has a lot to offer this coming year and we're particularly enthused by UKeSA's inclusive policy towards all areas of gaming and how we can work closely with HMV to make this the largest consumer games event in the UK this year."
Ray Mia, Chief Executive of UKeSA, added, “Nintendo are having a truly fantastic year, particularly with the launch of the new DSi. Game On! London attendees will have the chance to see the latest games in development for this and the massively popular Nintendo Wii.”
More than 20,000 gamers are expected to descend on London’s Olympia National hall for the two-day event. Gamers of all ages will be able to try out the very latest pre-release games due out later this year, as well as the ultimate in video games technology.
UkeSA can also announce today that tickets will cost £8.00 and are available now at http://tickets.hmv.com/GameOnLondon and from selected HMV stores. A donation of 50p will be made from the sale of each ticket to HMV’s nominated charity CLIC Sargent, the children’s cancer charity. Tim Ellis, Head of Games for HMV, said, “Game On! London is attracting a huge amount of interest, and I’m delighted Nintendo are the latest big name to sign up. It’s shaping up to be a great event.
“It will also be an ideal opportunity to spotlight our charity partner, CLIC Sargent, and to draw attention to the role that games and gaming can have in motivating and energising young people in a positive way.”
“As HMV’s charity partner we’re really pleased to be associated with this exciting event and are very grateful for the donation of 50p of every ticket sale which will go directly to helping children and young people with cancer and their families. We hope everyone attending Game On! has a great time, and thank them for their support,” says Rachel Williams, corporate account manager for CLIC Sargent.
