Game and Game World Championship (GNGWC) 2007 Kicks Off

(13th July, Seoul, Korea) - Korean Software Industry Promotion Agency, also called "KIPA", announced that Game and Game World Championship (GNGWC) ( www.gngwc.com) kicks off this year's competition with start of online registration. This e-Sports competition hosted by KIPA was originally initiated to promote Korean online games to the global gamers, and let them experience the resulting excellence. Continuing from last year's tradition, GNGWC 2007 allowed all Korean online game developers that had the capability of global service to enter. There have been six Korean online games selected as official games of GNGWC2007.

· Joymax's Silkroad Online, an MMORPG www.silkroadonline.net

· On Net's Shot Online, an online sports game www.shot-online.com

· Dream Execution's Warrock, an online FPS game www. warrock.net

· Innodis' Bomb N' Dash, an online action game www.bombndash.com

· Allm's Record of Lunia War, an MMORPG global.lunia.com

· SD Enternet's Navy Field, an MMO strategy game www.navyfield.com

This year's competition will begin with an online preliminary round in July, followed by regional finals from August to November in countries which include the United States, Japan, Germany, and Vietnam. The final championship game will be held on December 1st during the 'SoftExpo & Digital Content Fair 2007' in Seoul, Korea.

At GNGWC 2006, the first championship, 1,070,000 gamers participated from 80 different countries. The companies that participated in the competition, Silkroad Onine(JoyMax), Shot Online(OnNet), and GunBound(SoftNyx) recorded a 50% increase in sales and an 80% increase in membership registration. This competition was initially started to promote KIPA's GSP (Global Service Platform) business, which allowed worldwide service of Korean online games. However, with the success from previous year, this event is planned to continue well into the future.

KIPA's digital contents division's director Kwon, Takmin said, "I confirmed that, through GNGWC which started off last year, Korean games can also gain popularity all over the world like 'StarCraft.' We'll take this chance to promote the excellent quality of Korean games to our future customers, the teenagers from all over the world."

About GNGWC (Game and Game World Championship) Overview

GNGWC is an international game competition which began in 2006 by KIPA in order to promote Korean online games throughout the World. Last year, 1,070,000 people from 5 regions including Korea, Europe, Southeast Asia, Japan, etc. took participation in competing in 3 Korean games, 'Silkroad Online', 'Gunbound', and 'Shot Online'.
