Gaikai appoints Reitman as VP of business development
20-year vet responsible for launching Warcraft, BattleNet and EverQuest joins cloud gaming company
Gaikai, the cloud-based game streaming service, has appointed David Reitman as its new vice president of business development.
Reitman was previously the VP of content and entertainment practice at Switch and Data, which he joined from AT&T's Digital Media and Online Game Services Group.
"I'm delighted that David has joined Gaikai, his vast experience will be invaluable in assisting us in bringing game publishers and business partners onto the Gaikai platform," commented Gaikai's charismatic chief exec David Perry.
Reitman himself added that the "Gaikai platform has the ability to submerse gamers directly into the gaming experience with just one click. This will give publishers the ability to expose their gaming experience to a much wider audience, increasing the adoption rate and lowering their acquisition costs."
Reitman has a 20 year career in the field and was part of the team which helped deploy World of Warcraft, BattleNet, and EverQuest I and II, among others. He's also a regular conference speaker on the subject of running online games.
The appointment underlines Gaikai's ambitious plans, including those to sign up all of the major publishers to the service by the end of the year. The service is gaining impetus, having acquired significant investments to help make its ambitions a reality.
