Future US responds to Texas suit

Videogames magazine and web site publisher Future US, which was served with a complaint by the Texas attorney general yesterday, has released a statement saying that it is looking into the matter now.

Videogames magazine and web site publisher Future US, which was served with a complaint by the Texas attorney general yesterday, has released a statement saying that it is looking into the matter now.

The complaint alleges that Future web site Gamesradar contained material or allowed access to content deemed inappropriate for children, while also including information about games "clearly targeted to young children."

The statement is as follows:

"This is the first contact we have had from the Texas attorney general on this matter and we are urgently reviewing the complaint.

"As a matter of course and at a minimum, Future US strictly adheres to all laws and guidelines regarding content on our websites. In fact, we were a founder member of the Advertising Review Council (ARC) in 2000 whose primary directive was to ensure that mature-rated games werenât marketed to minors.

"We will provide a more detailed response to the specific elements of this case in due course."
