Future and Tesco launch games magazine
The 24-page magazine will be written by Future's GamesRadar.com team and distributed for free in 425 Tesco branches
Future publishing has announced a partnership with Tesco, the supermarket chain, to launch a new in-store games magazine.
The 24-page magazine "Hot Summer Games", written by Future's GamesRadar.com team, will be distributed for free in 425 Tesco branches and with online purchases through the company's entertainment website.
"With the fantastic growth of gaming and the continuing diversity of the audience, Tesco wanted to offer our customers a simple guide to the key games they should be looking for this summer," commented the games buying manager for Tesco, Matthew Cushway.
"Extensive customer research showed an overwhelming desire to get more information about games, helping them to make the right choice. The magazine clearly explains what to expect from a game but also importantly to highlight who it is appropriate for.
"As a responsible retailer, we are keen to ensure that the customer makes an informed choice, making sure parents are made aware of 18-rated games to stop them being purchased for those under the legal age. Launching this magazine also indicates the strong ambitions Tesco has within the games market."
'Hot Summer Games', and the magazines that follow it, will have an average print run of one million copies, reporting on games for all platforms.
"We are delighted to be working in partnership with Tesco on this landmark games magazine - utilising Future's editorial expertise to inform and guide Tesco customers to the best games for them and their families," the publisher for Future, Lee Nutter added. "Working with the UK's leading retailer further cements Future's number one position in the games market."
