Full roster of 3DS first and third party games revealed
Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, Street Fighter, Ghost Recon and more major IPs
Nintendo has revealed what it describes as a "partial" list of first, second and third party games for the newly revealed Nintendo 3DS portable.
At the company's pre-E3 conference yesterday only Project Sora's Kid Icarus: Uprising was previewed in detail, in part due to the impossibility of demonstrating the console's 3D effect without a firsthand demonstration.
A number of different technical demos are available on the E3 show floor, but the partial list of titles helped to support Nintendo president Satoru Iwata's assertion that the 3DS will launch with more third party titles than any other Nintendo console before it.
The list also suggested that titles derived from existing PlayStation 2 and GameCube ports may figure strongly in the console's initial line-up. Even headline titles such as Metal Gear Solid appear to be derived from existing games, with many of the other more vaguely listed titles also potentially using older games as a foundation.
Nintendo appeared to have delved even further back into its back catalogue, with a remake of Star Fox 64 and a show floor demo of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time from the Nintendo 64.
This was despite the graphical abilities of the 3DS appearing to be at least on par with the GameCube, with new screenshots of Mario Kart and PilotWings demonstrating visuals apparently on par with the Wii.
