FTC gives greenlight to EA/Take-Two merger
No further action from Federal Trade Commission clears the way for possible acquisition
The Federal Trade Commission in the US has decided to take no further action in its investigation into the possible merger of Electronic Arts and Take-Two.
"Upon further review of this matter, it now appears that no additional action by the Commission is warranted at this time. Accordingly, the investigation has been closed," reads a letter sent to both parties.
The conclusion paves the way for any such acquisition to take place. EA had earlier agreed to delay any acquisition moves until the FTC had concluded its enquiry.
Earlier this week, EA allowed its tender offer for Take-Two to expire, and stated that it would sit down face-to-face with Take-Two to accept a presentation on the future of the Grand Theft Auto publisher.
