French Cycling Tour 2010

Flip board-based pedalling sim launched for iPhone and iPad.

Montreuil, July 19, 2010. Anuman Interactive is targeting all cycling and Tour de France enthusiasts with the “French Cycling Tour 2010” app on Apple iPhone and iPad.

With the Tour de France in full swing and a growing number of tumbles in the baking heat, Anuman Interactive is announcing “French Cycling Tour” on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

The principle of “French Cycling Tour” is based on a “flip board game” system (created in the 90s for certain board games), in which the player moves cyclists around the race track using a flip board.

Updated by Anuman, the concept of “French Cycling Tour 2010” replaces the “flip board” by sliding a finger over the iPad or iPhone screen, offering the player a simple way to relive the Tour de France through fictional stages (similar to reality). To win, all the tactical aspects of cycling need to be applied: strategy, endurance management and timely performance.

The game starts with the player choosing his team from among the 10 teams available (depending on endurance, speed and climbing skills of each one) before he sets outs on the race.

Each race enables 7 teams (represented by a cyclist) to compete against one another. During the race, each player must manage his team's endurance and adapt his bicycle's speeds (1 to 6 speeds) according to the track's terrain, at the risk of tiring his cyclist and making him cover shorter and shorter distances in each round of the game.

On the screen, the interface and track present sprint zones, hills, the team’s position in the race, times and the entire route. At the end of each stage, the overall time is shown and points are given to the best sprinters and the best climbers (who are also awarded the yellow or polka dot jerseys).

”French Cycling Tour 2010” offers two solo game modes, three game difficulties and a multiplayer mode, where up to 6 competitors compete against one another at the same time.

“Tour” mode offers front door entry into the competition for a complete Tour de France (namely 10 fictional stages, such as Roubaix-Reims, Dijon-Lyons or even Versailles-Paris).

Inversely, “Stage” mode offers the opportunity to relax and take time to cover the 10 stages available. Finally, it is interesting to highlight that a mini-tutorial may be consulted and that the game is available in French and in English (the language is detected according to the device’s configuration).

It should be noted that each app is less than 20 MB and that they are currently not compatible with iOS 4. A free update will be available very soon. In addition to compatibility, new elements and a new interface will also be added for greater realism.

The “French Cycling Tour 2010” app has been available from the App Store since July 13, 2010, in the section

devoted to “Games”.
