MEDIA Desk's Dominique van Ratingen joins speakers list.

Dominique van Ratingen will give a presentation of the MEDIA Development scheme for interactive works. Followed by a Q&A with Peter de Jong and Filip van Zoest of the developer Codeglue, whose application for a game has recently received support.

Dominique van Ratingen, since April 2001 managing director of MEDIA Desk Netherlands. The MEDIA Desk helps to promote and administer the European Union's MEDIA Programme in the Netherlands. On the 15th of November the European Parliament and Council adopted a new programme to support the European audiovisual sector: MEDIA 2007. The Programme entered into force on 1 January 2007. Like its forerunners, MEDIA 2007 will focus on activities before and after production offering support for training, project development, distribution and promotion. The Programme will also put in place measures to accompany the changes that digitization is producing in the audiovisual sector at all stages of the production and distribution chain, including in terms of new skills for professionals in the sector. The budget will be €755 million over seven years (2007-13). The funds available will be allocated to the following categories: Acquisition and improvement of skills at least 7%, Development at least 20%, Distribution at least 55%, Promotion approximately 9%, Pilot Projects approximately 4%, Horizontal Costs at least 5%.

Codeglue is a Dutch game development studio that specializes in pick-up-and-play arcade games for mobile, handheld devices, and emerging console platforms. The studio develops premium licensed and original home grown games with devotion towards playability, multiplayer functionality, and driving communities.

Their uniquely comprised management and development teams ensure that fun gameplay and brilliant technical engineering are not mutually exclusive. Codeglue’s portfolio includes the high quality conversion of Worms World Party (Nokia N-Gage); well-known franchise mobile games like Monkeyball, Lemmings, and GoWaku!; and an original intellectual property, named Rocket Riot, in development and bound for XBLA.
