Fred Hasson appointment
Erstwhile Tiga boss joins Roma Victor developer RedBedlam.
Brighton, UK 14th May 2008 Redbedlam was founded in 2001 and spent several years developing its virtual world and virtual economics technologies until, in 2006, the company launched its first title, Roma Victor – an historically authentic and non-fantasy MMORPG based in Roman-occupied Britannia during the late second Century.
Since 2006 RedBedlam has continued to develop Roma Victor and the underlying technologies in preparation to fully realise the commercial potential of the company's virtual world server, 3D client, database and virtual economics solutions.
RedBedlam has now built up an extensive library of these mature, tested and well-documented proprietary virtual world technologies, and has some ambitious plans to grow the company.
“As the virtual world marketplace is finally beginning to blossom, we're extremely well placed to leverage our technologies and expertise but we really wanted to ensure that our management team was a good fit for the coming challenges,” says Kerry Fraser-Robinson, President and Managing Director of RedBedlam. “That's why we're so excited to have Fred joining the team. He brings an immense amount of practical experience, skills, knowledge and indeed contacts within a diverse and broad range of media sectors.”
“I am absolutely delighted to be joining RedBedlam,” says Fred Hasson. “It's not often that you encounter such a talented and devoted group of individuals with real skills, a knack for innovation and an in-depth understanding of virtual world development. I believe strongly that virtual worlds are an exciting new medium with a great deal of untapped potential. RedBedlam’s proposition is a particularly rare combination of real world experience and some extremely specialist know-how, which has a profoundly strong commercial potential – particularly in today's marketplace.”
RedBedlam will of course continue to develop and expand Roma Victor, which most recently saw the introduction of ballistic archery and thrown weapons, for example.
During the coming months, the company intends to gradually transition the project from its humble beginnings as a primarily technically-driven exercise to a more commercial virtual world, complementing development with marketing activities in order to further broaden its appeal.
