Fred Dutton appointment
Former Official Nintendo Magazine man joins Eurogamer as US news editor.
For Immediate Release:
Brighton, England, 26th October 2010: Eurogamer Network Ltd, Europe's leading independent games media specialist, today announces the first steps of its global expansion with the appointment of Fred Dutton as US News Editor for its flagship website, Eurogamer.net.
Based in Washington DC, Dutton is responsible for Eurogamer.net's news coverage during US West Coast business hours and reflects the site's commitment to providing 24-hour coverage of the games industry to readers in Europe and beyond.
He joins Eurogamer.net - winner of the Games Website category at this month's Games Media Awards for the fourth year in a row - following a spell freelancing for the likes of Edge. Dutton was previously deputy editor of Official Nintendo Magazine.
Rupert Loman, Managing Director of Eurogamer Network Ltd, said: "Hiring a US News Editor is part of our overall strategy to grow Eurogamer.net beyond the borders of the UK and Europe.
"We already have a significant audience in the US who enjoy our high standards of editorial. We believe that by providing live updates, establishing infrastructure and increasing our footprint in the region, we can provide a service to an even larger following - while providing more value to our existing readers in the process."
Fred Dutton, Eurogamer.net's US News Editor, said: "With such a huge proportion of our industry news coming out of the US, I'm really looking forward to planting a Eurogamer flag in American soil and spearheading the site's coverage of this huge, fast-moving marketplace.
"Both our American readers and those back in Europe can expect in-depth, timely US news content as it breaks, just with a few more 'u's and a few less 'z's."
US-based developers, publishers and PR firms can reach Fred Dutton through fred.dutton@eurogamer.net and on 240-271-4523.-ENDS-
