Former EA marketing exec joins Zynga
Brandon Barber joins the social gaming developer as VP of marketing
EA's former senior director of global marketing, Brandon Barber, has left the company to take up a role at the social gaming developer Zynga.
Barber will join the company in the newly created position of vice president of marketing, and will report to Andrew Trader, EVP of sales and business development.
"Since we launched just over a year ago, we have become the largest social gaming company and seen the category develop from nascent stages into an influential sector and the fastest growth area in gaming," said Trader.
"At the same time, we have grown to a point where we needed to add a key marketing position and found the perfect person to fit the bill. Brandon's combination of gaming and digital media experience makes him the ideal person to lead the charge and help build Zynga with consumers everywhere."
Prior to his seven years at EA, Barber ran the product team at the original Napster, witnessing the boom in users from 100 thousand to 100 million.
"Zynga is the most compelling story in gaming today," said Barber.
"Mark Pincus and the team have solved the problem of making games social and are in the process of defining a brand new category of entertainment. I couldn't be more excited to help Zynga move to the next level."
