"Foggy" And InfoSpace Go Full Throttle To Promote European Release Of FPR Superbikes Mobile Phone Game
For Immediate Release:
BELLEVUE, Wash., April 19, 2006 - InfoSpace
today announced that FPR Superbikes a new game for mobile
phone handsets based upon the Foggy PETRONAS Racing (FPR)
team owned by World Superbike Legend Carl Fogarty, will be
released to major European mobile network operators later
this month.
FPR Superbikes puts the high speed, white knuckle world of
superbike racing in the hands of mobile phone owners.
Specifically designed for mobile handsets the game uses a
simple, intuitive control system, requiring only steering and
braking. This allows first time players to play the game with
only a few moments practice, yet provides more experienced
players with a highly maneuverable system which allows them
to alter their bike set-up, break through the pack and shave
seconds off their lap times.
FPR Superbikes features circuits covering the whole of
Europe, North America and Asia. The game allows players to
practice in a Quick Race, improve their speed in a Time
Trial, or take part in a full 12-race Championship
season.
InfoSpace are promoting the launch of FPS Superbikes with a
number of promotions and competitions with mobile network
operators and several of Europe's leading online and print
publications. Consumers will be able to win limited edition
Foggy PATRONAS racing gear and exclusive passes to
forthcoming superbike events.
Foggy Petronas Racing was created in 2001, when four time
World Superbike Champion Carl Fogarty - known universally to
fans as 'Foggy' - partnered with sponsor PETRONAS, Malaysia's
leading oil and gas multinational company. The FPR team has
competed in the Superbike World Championship since 2003,
creating fans globally and reinforcing Carl's image as a
pioneer in racing.
"The FPR Superbikes game gives fans worldwide a chance to
take part and compete along with the team," said Carl
Fogarty. "It's a whole new way for racing fans and gamers to
enjoy the sport and they can take it with them wherever they
go. I think InfoSpace has done a great job with the game. My
team works hard to connect with fans and the FPR Superbikes
game takes this to a whole new level."
"Superbike racing is growing in popularity all around the
world, and we think fans will embrace the agile game play and
exciting features of our FPR Superbikes mobile game," said
Alan Welsman, vice president mobile media at InfoSpace,. "The
opportunity to work with Carl Fogarty and Foggy Petronas
Racing really brought the game to life.. The development team
has done a terrific job creating a fantastic looking game
that really plays well."

About Foggy PETRONAS Racing (FPR)
Foggy PETRONAS Racing is a high-profile World Superbike
racing team, owned by four times World Superbike Champion,
Carl Fogarty, and funded through a five-year sponsorship deal
with PETRONAS, Malaysia's state-owned petroleum corporation.
The relationship between Carl and PETRONAS dates back to
1992, when Carl competed in the Malaysian Superbike
championship for the brand new PETRONAS Sprinta team. Contact
was maintained over a number of years until Carl retired from
racing following a crash at Phillip Island in 2000. He then
set up his Team Foggy Racing company and began to look for
sponsorship to run his own team. PETRONAS had been funding
the development of a new 989cc triple engine, called the GP1,
but the link with Carl resulted in a five-year World
Superbikes project, a win-win partnership for both Carl and
PETRONAS. After just one year of intensive preparation and
production of the all new PETRONAS FP1 superbike, the team
made its debut in the championship, following homologation,
at the first round of the 2003 season. Now in its final year
of the deal with PETRONAS, Team Foggy Racing renews its
search for sponsorship and a new racing project to put the
team back on the grid for 2007 and beyond. For further
