First look over the developer's shoulder

Video shows first game play scenes from forthcoming Speedball 2

Berlin, 15.05.2007: Accompanied by impressive scenes, Frogster Interactive announces that important milestones were reached in the development of Speedball 2. For the first time, publisher Frogster and development team Kylotonn show images from the production of the future sports hit. Mike Montgomery, from The Bitmap Brothers fame, and creative director Yann Tambellini show a sightseeing flight through the impressive 3D model of a Speedball arena. Also shown were - thanks to motion capturing - fluid animations from 3D models of the gladiators along with photo realistic 3D heads from members of the legendary team Brutal Deluxe, which has fought its way into new Speedball 2. The new video is available under this download link on Frogster's web page:

Overseen by the creator of Speedball

As consulting director and leading producer, Mike Montgomery oversees the whole production of Speedball 2. He has not only founded The Bitmap Brothers, but is also the guy behind legendary classics like Xenon Megablast, The Chaos Engine, Gods, Cadaver, Magic Pockets und Z. Development and co-production is being done by Paris-based studio Kylotonn, who have collected an experience team of game designers and programmers.

Technically impressive multiplayer action

To ensure smooth multiplayer action, Kylotonn incorporates the proven network middleware Raknet into Speedball 2. Licensee Rakkarsoft has proven its excellence with technology demo Cellfactor - Combat Training, which had drowned all registers of AGEIA PhysX effects. Based on that project, Rakkarsoft currently develops the first person shooter Cellfactor - Revolution. AGEIA PhysX will also be supported by Speedball 2, delivering spectacular action effects - dynamic moving objects and impressive physics will be provided as well. Fluid animations of Speedball's gladiators will be delivered by motion capturing studio ATOPOS, who have shown their excellence before for games like Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 1 & 2 and Rainbow Six Vegas.

Also, regarding the artificial intelligence, the developers are only satisfied with the best. For the intelligently acting team buddies and challenging opponents, they obtained the middleware form Spir.ops, legendary by example for the sneak attacks of Sam Fisher in Splinter Cell - Double Agent.

Speedball 2 will be released in Q3 2007. Newly developed for PC it will transform the futuristic game setting into a vibrant online sporting spectacular using state of the art technology. With international leagues, a worldwide ranking system and a virtual market place, Speedball 2 will tick all the boxes for a modern multiplayer action game. Fully customizable characters ranging from cyborg to amazon, dynamically changing sports battles and endless community support will inspire enthusiasts of sports, action and e-sports alike.
