FIFA 09 played online 275 million times
Electronic Arts keen to use experience of best-selling sports title to shape new game
Last year's FIFA 09 game, which has featured in the UK all-formats chart top ten pretty much since its launch in September, can now boast 275 million online games played by people around the world between then and June this year.
According to a statement released by Electronic Arts, the development team at EA Canada has taken feedback from those games in order to improve the user experience for its forthcoming title FIFA 10, which will be released this Autumn.
"We have benefited from 275 million games played online to refine FIFA Soccer 10 in a way that matters most to our fans," said Andrew Wilson, VP and executive producer for the FIFA Soccer franchise. "We've listened and responded to their feedback to improve player control, responsiveness and intelligence and create what we believe is the world's most authentic soccer videogame."
One the key features to be introduced in this year's game will be 360-degree dribbling, which will expand significantly on the eight-direction movement currently used as standard in most football titles.
