iPhone MMORPG signed for English-language release by Com2uS; closed beta to begin later this year.
Seoul, Korea, May 25th, 2010- Lemon announced today that its publishing agreement with Com2uS for the smartphone Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game, Fantasia.
The agreement entails the English version of Fantasia for Apple iPhone and amounts to US$ 3 million including minimum guarantee. This is the first attempt in Korea to build a developer-publisher relationship around the open market such as Apple¡¯s App Store. The arrangement attracts a lot of attention within the industry because of the marriage of two leading mobile game companies in Korea.
In the light of the explosive growth of smart phone users and mobile Internet usage via Wi-Fi, gamers have been expecting the shift of mobile games from simple single-player games to social networking or MMORPG games. Yet prior to Fantasia, no content has met the expectation.
A smartphone game Fantasia features online game system such as PvP, party, and guild that can be played on mobile handset as well as a variety of items and maps.
"It took 4 years and US$ 4.5 million to develop Fantasia," said Hyo-Sung Yoon, CEO of Lemon. "I am positive that Fantasia will become a killer game content for smartphone with its profound storyline and quality gameplay." Yoon added that he is happy to partner up with Com2uS and highly value its knowledge and marketing resources.
Fantasia is expected to kick off Closed Beta Test (CBT) in the second half of 2010 on Apple App Store and commercial service early next year.
