Family Guy content deal extended outside of the US
Fox's cult comedy spreads to international mobile markets
Fox, Abandon Mobile and Netherlands-based Mowave have announced plans to expand the mobile offerings of cult cartoon series Family Guy, reaching out to consumers in countries outside of the United States.
Capitalising on the success of Airborne's Family Guy mobile game and the popularity of its mobile portal, the new deal will enable international users to download images, voice messages and other mobile from specific regional portals to be hosted by various network operators.
Mowave and Airborne will be cooperating closely to produce original Family Guy themed mobile content, including wallpapers, animations, ring tones, video ringers, ring back tones and community applications.
Andy Schachtel, Mowave's president, commmented: "Family Guy has proven its international appeal on TV and together with Airborne and Fox we aim to make the Family Guy mobile experience just as compelling for international audiences."
"Family Guy has been a successful mobile brand for us and we look forward to expanding this offering," added Airborne CEO Garner Bornstein.
"By partnering with Mowave, we were able to plug into one of the widest and most solid distribution networks on operator portals outside of North America."
The new service will begin to roll out shortly in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and the Netherlands.
