Eurogamer to launch in Germany at Games Convention 2006
Brighton, England, August 4, 2006: Eurogamer Network - publisher of the market-leading video games website Eurogamer.net - is expanding to Germany. Launching at Games Convention, which will take place on August 24-26 in Leipzig, Eurogamer.de will provide a new home for all German-speaking games enthusiasts.
The launch is made possible by a joint venture between Eurogamer Network and the Nuremberg Internet publisher Extent Media GbR. The founders of Extent Media are Oliver Menne and Thomas Borovskis, who bring a total of over 30 years publishing experience to the operation. Both founders left Computec Media AG recently where they earned their reputation as editors of PC Games magazine in the 90s. More recently, Oliver Menne was Chief Editorial Officer of Computec until June 2006. Thomas Borovskis was responsible for all Internet magazines for the publisher.
"The partnership with Extent Media meets all the requirements to repeat Eurogamer's tremendous success in Germany," says Rupert Loman, founder and Managing Director of Eurogamer Network. "Eurogamer.de is the first important step of our European expansion strategy. We're very happy to have found a long-term and experienced partner in Extent Media, acompany that shares our vision for the future of video games editorial publishing."
Eurogamer.de will target itself at the millions of games enthusiasts in German-speaking countries. Covering all platforms, genres and styles of games, the site's broadband video content and interactive editorial will be presented to the industry and gamers alike for the first time at Games Convention 2006 via www.eurogamer.de.
