Highlights of the year, VW Cup, Intel ASUS gamezone, Intel-Expert-Corner, parents-LAN...

Cologne, 13. August 2009 – In cooperation with Intel and ASUS the Electronic Sports League (ESL) presents the eSports highlights of the year at gamescom 2009 in Cologne from August 19 to August 23 on a surface of 2.800 m². The ESL TV hosts will take the audience through the program, including the final games of the ESL European Nations Championship video games tournament, the start of the fourth season of the global league of eSports champions, Intel Extreme Masters, and the Intel Friday Night Game of the German Bundesliga for video games, ESL Pro Series. For the first time female gamers will be fighting in the playoffs of the ESL Major Series Female at gamescom in Counter Strike for the European championship crown. Football-loving gamers can look forward to the ESL Sports Pre-Season final of the Football Championship. The ESL-copartner Volkswagen looks within the campgane "young driver" at the VW Cup for the best driver of the race-simulation level R. The fastest of the day gets an exclusive safe driving training in the new Golf GTI.

The ESL Intel ASUS gamezone gives the gamers a large Free-Gaming-Area, where many new games can be tested, including blockbusters like Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising (exclusive in the ESL Intel ASUS gamezone), Resident Evil 5, R.U.S.E. or Supreme Commander 2. The Free-Gaming-Area is well prepared for the newest games: Intel and ASUS provide cutting edge hardware for the perfect gaming fun, including the newest Intel Core i7 processors on board.

Background knowledge around the newest developments of new hardware for ambitious games will be given by experts from Intel in the Intel-Expert-Corner. ASUS is showing a few overclocking skills for private use on stage and also how to build the perfect compact computer. Every day the fastest overclocker and the best hardware-specialists from the crowd will be rewarded with modern graphic cards.

On Saturday, August 22, in cooperation with media-educator copartners the university of applied science Cologne and the Computer-Project Cologne e.V., Turtle Entertainment is holding a parents-LAN at gamescom. The participants of the media competence event will get introductions to different games from independent educators, including the popular tactical shooter Counter-Strike.

The IPTV-Channel ESL TV broadcasts through the whole fair live from the ESL Intel ASUS gamezone. eSports fans can view every second of the action from home at http://tv.esl.eu.
