Epic, Bioware and Naughty Dog reveal new titles at VGAs

Spike TV awards show seen in over 100 countries, Skyrim picks up big awards

The Spike Video Game Awards, broadcast on Saturday night, saw a number of new game announcements from the likes of Bioware, Epic Games and Naughty Dog.

Bioware revealed that it's next project would be Command & Conquer: Generals 2, and this morning it's been reported that EA studio Victory, known for its work on the franchise, had joined the Bioware stable.

Epic Games is working on a game that looks drastically different to it's shooter back catalogue, and is titled Fortnite. Last week Epic Games president Mike Capps told GamesIndustry.biz that he was "scared to death" about the reveal.

Uncharted developer Naughty Dog aroused interest with a trailer for The Last Of Us, a game seemingly centred around a young girl and her father, fighting to survive in post apocalyptic world. The fact that Mark Richard Davies, lead designer on Ensalved, is working on the game suggest there will be similar escort mechanics.

"We are excited to finally unveil The Last of Us, a project the team has been working hard on for some time," said Naughty Dog co president Evan Wells.

"Naughty Dog's mission is to change the way people experience video games. We are confident The Last of Us will take a leap forward in cinematic gaming and storytelling, providing gamers with an experience unlike anything else in the industry."

The other major news from the show was that Platinum Games, the developer behind Bayonetta, has taken over work on Metal Gear Rising. The game was formerly in production at Kojima Productions.

There were also new trailers from games like Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Diablo III, Rainbow Six: Patriots, Bioshock Infinite and Mass Effect 3.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim scored Game Of The Year, Best RPG and Studio Of The Year for Bethesda, despite ongoing complaints from PlayStation 3 gamers about game play issues.

It was the ninth awards ceremony for the Spike TV Network, and was shown live on Spike TV, MTV 2 and streamed on Spike.com. The show was seen in over 100 countries and territories globally.
