Speedball 2 open for public play first time at ESWC Finals
Berlin, 2007-06-22: With a first public presence at the ESWC Finals in Paris Kylotonn and Frogster fire a starting shot to their wide-spread esports campaign for Speedball 2. From July 5th - 8th, interested action-sports-fans may pick up their gamepad to play on two exclusive terminals at the common stand of the capital region Ile de France. The first public version already comprises the multiplayer mode as well as freely zoomable and turnable camera views, which along with many other new features will transform the title from a games classic to an up-to-date and extraordinary action-sports-title. "Our appearance at the ESWC Finals demonstrates our commitment to support and facilitate the introduction of Speedball 2 into the esports scene. The new Speedball founds firmly on the virtues of the legendary forerunner, but translates the title into dynamic multiplayer online matches with state-of-the-art online features", Community Manager Mark Ralea comments the participation. Next week Frogster Interactive will publish details for their esports engagement.
At the ESWC Finals 750 of the world's best console and pc players compete to their inofficial world cup in front of 40.000 spectators. Over 12.000 square meters of surface are dedicated to the esports spectacle in the newest hall of the congress centre in the Expo Park at Porte de Versailles.
Team Brutal Deluxe returns
In 2326, rival gangs form an ultra-violent streetsports league to settle their deadly disputes called Speedball 2. Two teams face each other in bloody battles for a steel ball. Nine on nine - in an all-out rush on the opponents' goal. Almost any malicious move is permitted. The winner of the matches secures supremacy over the city. In the third quarter of 2007, Frogster Interactive is set to publish Speedball 2 as the longed-for sequel to the Amiga classic. The new release for the PC platform transforms the futuristic game setting with state-of-the-art technology into a high-speed online sports spectacle. Offering international leagues, a worldwide ranking system and a virtual marketplace, Speedball 2 pulls all registers of modern multiplayer gaming action. A wide range of fully customisable male, female and cyborg characters, dynamic sports battles, and continuous community support will convince sports simulation enthusiasts, action fans, and e-sports cracks likewise. For the production of Speedball 2, developer Kylotonn has assembled a fresh team of experienced game designers and programmers. With photo-realistic 3D models, breathtaking animations and futuristic arenas for Speedball 2, the French developer team, already renowned for the "Bet on Soldier" trilogy, heads for a stunning comeback. As eminent advisor and lead producer, Mike Montgomery will supervise all steps in the development of Speedball 2. Since 1987, when he founded The Bitmap Brothers, he has been behind the legendary original as well as classics like Xenon Megablast, The Chaos Engine, Gods, Cadaver, Magic Pockets and Z.
The The Bitmap Brothers logo is a registered trade mark of The Bitmap Brothers. Speedball is a registered trade mark and copyright of The Bitmap Brothers.
