EMotion FX Real-Time Character Animation System Now Faster, Leaner And With An Improved Art Pipeline

ROTTERDAM, NETHERLANDS, JANUARY 24, 2005. Mystic Game Development, middleware SDK animation developer, today announced the release of their newest EMotion FX real-time character animation library. This latest version (v2.15) is faster and leaner than previous versions and has an updated feature set that includes improved export paths for the Character Art Production Pipeline.

"EMotion FX v2.15 was developed for increased performance, decreased memory usage and to speed up the animation production pipeline," said John van der Burg, Mystic Game Development founder and Development Director. Main changes and additions to EMotion FX:

  • Performance improvements: The blending and interpolation of EMotion FX have been optimized by up to 50%. This is especially noticeable when using hardware skinning.
  • Memory optimizations: EMotion FX now has significantly reduced the number of allocations and overhead caused.
  • Batch Exporters: This functionality for Max and Maya, now allows the user to export all their animation files in one shot, with support for individual exporter options per file. This enhancement is useful to those wanting to export low LOD versions of models and animations with simplified skinning or motion quality etc.
  • Preview Plugins: Single button, Instant real-time preview of models and motions in Max and Maya is now also included. Custom viewers can also be specified, allowing artists to view their models in their own game viewers also.
