EA to shut down Earth & Beyond in September
Publisher Electronic Arts has announced that it will be switching off the servers for its massively multiplayer sci-fi title Earth & Beyond on September 22nd, just over two years after the game was officially launched.
The game, which was one of the last to be developed by the Westwood studio before it was shut down by EA, offered space trading and combat in a massively multiplayer role-playing galaxy.
Although it attracted significant interest when it was first launched, the game seems to have failed to keep most players on board for a significant period of time, and its subscriber base has been dwindling for some time.
EA plans to switch the game off in September in order to focus its resources on future titles, and has advised players that they will be contacted by the company directly to inform them about how the shutdown will be carried out.
