Publisher Electronic Arts has announced its intention to unite its FIFA football brand with the popular Street series of sports titles, with urban themed title FIFA Street due to launch on console platforms next year.
The game will feature real licensed football players, pitching them against each other in four-a-side and one on one matches in urban locations worldwide, and will feature a career mode where a team can climb through the rankings by gaining "street cred".
"We are stripping the sport down to its core," according to senior producer Wil Mozell, "and delivering a game that's all about freestyle attitude and individual skill, something I believe is at the heart of every football fan."
The title, which is featured in a short trailer on copies of the recently released FIFA Football 2005, is being developed at EA's Canadian studio in Vancouver (where the original FIFA titles are also created) and will be launched next year on PS2, Xbox and Cube.
