EA Mobile sees 140 per cent growth

Company to publish 35 games in 07/08

The performance of EA's mobile games division was one of the highlights for the company in an otherwise modest end to the financial year.

Results for the company's full year saw it report revenues of USD 3.1 billion (EUR 2.2bn), an increase of 4.7 per cent over the previous year. Income was down to USD 76 million (EU 56m), down from USD 236 million (EUR 174m) the previous year.

However, mobile gaming helped buck the overall trend for the world's largest videogame publisher.

Sales of mobile games were USD 36 million (EUR 26m) for the first quarter of 2007, a 140 per cent increase over the USD 15 million (EUR 11m) the previous year.

For the full financial year 2006, mobile game sales reached USD 140 million (EUR 103m).

EA mobile plans to release between 30 and 35 games on handsets in 2007, with another 4 on iPod. It predicts its mobile revenue will surpass USD 175 million (EUR 129m).
