EA: Medal of Honor needs to sell 3m or no sequel
Executive producer reveals pressure to be successful
EA has placed a sales target of three million on its upcoming reboot of Medal of Honor.
The Afghanistan-set shooter, at one point subtitled 'Anaconda' launches next month, and has attracted numerous headlines due to its option to play as Taliban soldiers in multiplayer.
Executive producer Greg Goodrich revealed to the New York Times that, despite the Medal of Honor series' long history, "I'm not going to be able to do another one" in the event it doesn't sell at least three million copies.
While the game's budget appears to be significant - with EA enrolling US band Linkin Park to soundtrack the game and for public appearances, plus arranging sound recording sessions at US military bases - it is undisclosed as yet.
In his piece, New York Times writer Chris Suellentrop described the game as "transgressively real" and having "a whiff of jingoism."
Medal of Honor launches in Octover, just weeks ahead of Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops.
