EA cuts staff at Tiburon
Undisclosed number of employees let go as part of wider cost-cutting plan
Electronic Arts has laid off an undisclosed number of employees at its Tiburon studio as part of a cost-cutting exercise.
Craig Hagen, an EA employee at Tiburon, confirmed that staff at the Madden NFL and Tiger Woods PGA Tour studio had been let go, according to the OrlandoSentinel.
"The economy is affecting every industry including ours and we need to tighten our belts and reduce our operating costs," Hagen said. "Tiburon remains one of the flagship studios for EA Sports and will continue to be the home base for the leading sports franchises like Madden and Tiger and NCAA Football."
This news follows the publisher's earlier cuts at both its Pandemic Brisbane and Mythic studios, EA announced late last year that it planned to cut 1000 jobs by March.
