EA backs 1GOAL education campaign

Publisher to support education initiative across multiple games and networks

Electronic Arts has given its backing to the international 1GOAL initiative, with branding and sign-up windows being embedded into games, online and across all EA networks.

1GOAL's objective is to ensure free education for all primary school children, with a target of $16 billion a year in funding commitments from world leaders. The organisation has the backing of Gordon Brown, Hillary Clinton, Ban Ki Moon, Bono and a range of football clubs and personalities.

The South African government will be hosting a high level summit for the organisation during the World Cup, to further the group's aims.

"EA is thrilled to support the 1GOAL campaign with our global online destinations, including Playfish, Pogo, The Sims Online and EASPORTS.com," said Elizabeth Harz, senior vice president of global media sales at EA.

"Our goal is to inform millions of people about the importance of education,” she added.

"I am delighted that EA are supporting 1GOAL so strongly and reaching out to customers across their networks worldwide. This is an incredible launch to our 1DAY for 1GOAL campaign," said global co-chair of 1GOAL Queen Rania of Jordan.
